Pari Henna Body Art

There's something about henna that just screams summer to me! It gets me in the mood to head to a festival and dress like a boho queen all season long! I got the great opportunity again this year to get some beautiful henna done by the amazing Parinita Verma of Pari Henna Body Art!

Parinita has over 10 years of henna experience and she gets better every year! Henna is an all natural temporary "tattoo", also known as mehndi, derived from India. The henna paste used for this process is made from twigs and leaves from the henna plant with all natural staining properties. Parinita has her own recipe which is uses for paste, all free of harmful chemicals and dyes, which means it is safe to use on all skins types! Henna goes on first as a paste, then the paste is to be left on for a few hours to stain the skin (the longer you leave the paste on the darker your henna will be!), then after a few hours it hardens and starts to flake off and underneath it will be left a light orange rust color. As the henna oxidizes it gets darker, so you'll see the true color of the henna after about 1-2 days. Henna generally lasts about 2 weeks and if you'd like to keep your henna from fading the key is not to exfoliate the skin in which the henna was applied and while the henna is drying to make sure your body temperature is warm plus keeping the henna paste on for as long as possible during the drying process.

Henna is applied free hand by Parinita and she does such an amazing job! I gave her some inspiration photos, picked out a few things I wanted to include in the design and she created this beautiful artwork on my arm and hand. I'm so in love with it! Check out the amazing piece she did on me and check out her Facebook and Instagram pages as well! Support your local girl gang and give her a follow and set up some time to get your own Henna art!
