One year ago today I set out on a journey to make my time more worth while
and to do something that incorporated my true love for everyday fashion trends,
and with that Don't Forget to Sparkle was born!
Happy Birthday Don't Forget to Sparkle!
I can't believe I've been blogging for a whole year!
I feel like it was only a few months ago that I was even debating the idea of even starting a fashion blog.
I'm so proud of myself for sticking to something this long!
I can't even get over the amazing amount of support and reward I've received since writing this blog.
It's cool to have people I don't even know recognize me for writing it, and give me such positive feedback!
It makes me feel like I'm doing this not only for me, but also for my followers!
I mean the dream was to have followers and regular readers, but that seemed almost unrealistic at the beginning.
But I am so proud of myself for letting Don't Forget to Sparkle grow to where it is now.
I've gotten to collaborate and have amazing products gifted to me by great brands and stores such as
Good on Ya (blog post coming soon!)
and have been the stylist for
Army of Sass - St John's up coming Cabaret show!
and it's all thanks to my followers!
I'm so proud to have gained followers in so many different countries such as:
United Kingdom
Germany
Australia
and the Netherlands,
just to name a few!
So thank you guys for reading my posts and following me on my fashion adventures!
Another big thank you to my patient fiance, Thomas, and friends (Jess, Renee & Kait) for being my photographers and have to listen to me yell directions at you.
I love you all!
♥
I did a casual look for my one year birthday since it's still freaking freezing outside!
It's my attempt to pretend its actually Spring outside!
It breaks my heart to see all these fashion bloggers on instagram posting photos of them in cute outfits without coats and wearing flats.
Yeah..we don't really have that option here on the east coast!
Imagine though.. this time last year I was out in a pink trench coat, white jeans and heels.
This year...uh-uh...
The cold wind almost took my cute little balloon away!
Sweater: Zara | Coat: Cheap Monday
Jeans: Levis (purchased from Envy) | Necklace: Aldo
Boots: Aldo | Purse: Aldo
Fur Pom: Envy | Belt: Aldo
It's crazy how quickly time goes by and how many things have changed and happened!
My hair got "longer",
I won the Aldo Canada/US/UK Best Dressed Contest,
I went to Montreal twice,
I became the Manager at Aldo Accessories,
and I got ENGAGED!
So needless to say, it was a good year!
Along with lots of personal things that have happened its always cool to go back and look through how many different fashion trends I've discovered in the past year!
Here are my top 5 outfits from the past year!
#5 - Raybans + Mocknecks
July 14, 2015
I love this outfit because it was one of the first times I tried out the whole mock neck look!
I always had an irrational fear that turtlenecks and mock necks made me look fat.
But I soon got over that once I realized how much I love them! I also dig the simplicity!

#4 - Pastels! Pastels! Pastels!
March 26th, 2015
Ahhh my first fashion blog post
♥
I was so in love with pastels last spring and this became my go to outfit when I didn't know what to wear!
Wearing soft colors even though there's still snow on the ground can make you so much more excited for Spring and Summer!
If the sun is out on a cold day pop on some light colors, it will make you feel so much brighter and happier about the upcoming Spring season!
So even though it's warm outside, it's okay to dress like it is by popping on some soft pastels!
We have to give ourselves some hope that the warm weather is coming!
#3 - Highlight - Twigg & Feather
March 17, 2016
How could you not love this look!?
Oversized grey sweater, ripped jeans and sneakers.
This is literally my go to outfit for running errands, relaxing or just one of my more casual days!
This look is just so practical but yet fashion forward.
Who says fashion can't be comfortable??
Also,
Sneakers are huge right now, which makes my feet very happy!
You need a pair.
I promise.
(PS, you have another week and a bit to take advantage of 10% off on Twigg & Feather's website with coupon code SPARKLE)
#2 - Menswear silhouette + fur pom hats
December 16, 2015
I was ALL OVER the menswear silhouette this season!
And I'm still loving it!!
The whole "borrowed from the boys look" is so fashion forward and so in this year!!
Every year I find something that I obsess over,
and this season it was definitely oversized mens inspired wear.
#1- Over the Knee Boots + Skirts
August 25, 2015
My favorite look ever ♥
A big reason I love this look is because it's literally the perfect outfit to wear all year round!
And so easy to modify based on the weather.
Everything just revolves around this skirt!
This look is perfect for a fall or spring day,
on a summer day swap the long sleeve for a short sleeve striped shirt and a cute boho sandal,
and in the winter you can throw some black tights on underneath and pair it with a fitted turtle neck!
A good skirt goes a long way, I gotta say!
I hope you guys love these looks as much as I do!!
Let me know what your favorite look was this year and share it in the comment section below!
Thank you all for supporting me this past year!
I'm so glad to see so many viewers from around the world!
and Happy Shopping ♥
Congrats on the one year! I've only started following recently, but I plan on stealing many of your style tips :)
