Pastels!! Pastels!! Pastels!!

I find that every season I take on one new trend that will pretty much be in my wardrobe everyday! It'll end up being "my thing" for that season, and I wear it out until I'm pretty much sick of it.

Summer 2011 I went on a shopping trip to Toronto with my friend Jess and everything I bought on that trip was either beige or light pink. I didn't even really notice until Jess's 8 year old cousin said to me, "your favorite color must be beige is it?". Like tragic... An 8 year old could notice that before I did! So my thing for that summer was pretty much anything the color of my skin.

In 2012 everything had studs and/or spikes! Like I went a little stud crazy. I bought 2 studded vests, studded necklaces, studded purses, studded shoes, spiked bracelets... The list could go on for days. I also had everything with crosses on it. Cross leggings, cross necklaces, cross rings, cross shirts... I'm not even religious is the worst of it. They were just super trendy so obviously I jumped on that
bandwagon.

In 2013 I think I wore a fur vest like everyday. Now that is one I haven't really lost. I love fur every part of the year. I just find fur so elegant and fashionable that I don't think I'll ever get sick of it!

In 2014 I lost a lot of weight, so I pretty much incorporated a crop top anywhere I could! Now I still wore a lot of them in 2013 when they first popped back onto the scene from the 90's, but I finally felt very good about my body and I felt a lot more comfortable being in them, so I wore them A LOT!

I think my thing for 2015 is going to be pastels! Like pastel everything please!! I noticed this when all I was wearing were my lighter coloured lipsticks. For the past like 3 years I've lived in all dark lip colors like Cyber and Rebel by MAC. But I've swapped those for MAC's Honeylove and Stila's Ballisma. I just feel it softens up my look. My hair and my skin is so light that putting on a dark lip color can sometimes make me look really harsh. So even on my "badass" days I still opt for a lighter color, usually Sephora's Electra Pink Luster lip color.

So I based my first outfit around my new found love for pastels!! It's a big switch up for me though to be in light colors. I usually wear some form of monochromatic or just stick to all black (sometimes I like to relive my Johnny Cash phase). Last year I had bought a hot pink Mustard Seed blazer from Envy and I had the woman who works at the kiosk outside of Aldo call out to me to tell me that "it was nice to see me in some color". That was a wake up call for me to mix it up a bit. Once again I hadn't even noticed I wore so much black until she pointed it out.

I think thats another New Years Resolution... wear more color!! So here is it!!

PASTELS!! PASTELS!! PASTELS!!

I'm wearing the Structured Trench from RW&co in Rose Smoke. My amazing boyfriend, Thomas, bought it for me as a little surprise last week! I told him to keep it for my birthday, but he let me wear it now! What a guy right? So naturally on a day that it wasn't -20 outside I had to put it on! I saw the coat in the new marketing they had for the spring and literally went there everyday to see if they had it. It's just so beautiful!!

Another article of clothing I needed to invest in for the Spring/Summer was a pair of white pants. If you don't own a pair, go get some!! They are just as much of a staple in my wardrobe now as black pants. They just soften an outfit so much more going into the Spring, it makes you feel like summer is just around the corner without having to freeze the legs off yourself. I'm wearing the 1969 white jeans from the GAP. I got them last week when they had a 50% Friends and Family event. They are probably the most comfortable jeans I own next to my Paige and J Brands that I have. I also don't think I've ever bought anything full price at the GAP, they always have some kind of promo on the go! The heather grey sweater I have on under the pink coat, thats from the GAP too! I got that Christmas time for like $12 because it was 50% off the sale price. Amazing find!! It's so comfortable and fits so well!

Who doesn't love a bit of arm candy? Sorry Thomas, I don't mean you right now. That Marc by Marc Jacobs watch though... just my favorite! Thomas gave it to me for Christmas, and I think I've worn my other watch once since then. Rose Gold with Navy is just...so nice!!
I also pretty much wear these three bracelets every day - the Melanie Auld Tear Cuff in Purple Druzzy, the Kate Spade Ooo-la-la bracelet and the Friends Fight bracelet from Aldo. If you haven't gone to Aldo to pick up a Friends Fight bracelet, you should! They're $5 and all the proceeds from this bracelet go to the Aldo Fights Aid campaign. Stop into your closest Aldo and help support the cause!

I'm actually in love with these heels. They're Riely-55 from Aldo. I just want to wear them with everything! And they are oddly comfortable for a heel. I usually need to always have an ankle strap to keep me in but these actually fit the foot perfectly and have an amazing insole! You don't come across a comfortable heel very often, so when it does happen... BUY IT!! I'm also all over the snake skin for the summer! Like... that might be the other thing I obsess over this season! Give me all the snake skin and pastels pleaseeee! It kinda bad-asses up the pastels in a way and I love that!

I'm also all about these 360 earrings from Aldo!! I never wear earrings, but these are just so unique looking. I had to buy them! I've actually sold so many of these just by having them in my ears, it's wild!

If you haven't mixed lipsticks before, you have to try it! I mixed together Stila's Ballisima and MAC's Heroine to make this color. It's like this beautiful soft bright pink, I'm so into it!!

Make it a goal this week to add some pastels to your outfit! Spring is here (kinda?) so try and ditch some of those dark fall/winter colors and lighten it up! Hopefully summer will be here soon, so until then we can at least wear the colors of the season!

Don't forget to sparkle*
